Jaguars

The Jaguar Pride Association and the Johnson Athletic Department will be hosting a Middle School Night meet-and-greet meeting on Monday May 21, 2012. The Meeting will be held on the hilltop in the Johnson Auditorium.

All prospective Freshman Athletes and Parents are encouraged to attend the meeting that starts at 7:00PM. The meeting will be highlighted by an introduction of the coaching staff for next school year as well as information on how parents can get involved with the Jaguar Pride Association (JPA).

The JPA will be selling merchandise and signing up new members during the meeting. All of Johnson sports coaching staffs will be made available at the end of the meeting for individual questions. We encourage everyone to arrive early as we are expecting a huge crowd as we kick off the class of 2016 High School sports careers.

Johnson senior Connor Roy will be counted on to lead Johnson vs Carroll in round three of the UIL 5A post season playoffs

The Johnson Jaguars advancing to the third round of the UIL State Playoffs will take on State ranked Corpus Christi Carroll in a best of three series this weekend. The last time these two teams met was in the second round of the 2011 playoffs.

Last season Johnson was experiancing the playoffs for the first time. Making the second round after defeating San Marcos the Jags faced off with Carroll in a three game series. After taking game one at Wolff Stadium the Jags fell to Carroll in Alice in a Saturday doubleheader.

Like last year the Jags and Tigers will cat fight in a three game series starting with one game Friday night at the home of San Antonio’s double A baseball team, the Missions, at Nelson Wolff Stadium. Friday’s game will start at 8PM and will follow another third round playoff game between Churchill and O’Connor.

Saturday the series will continue with a doubleheader but this time on the edge of the Corpus Christi Bay at yet another Double A Stadium. The Jags will travel to Corpus and play at Whataburger Field, the Home of the Hooks.

Game 2, the first game on Saturday, starts at 2pm at Whatabuger.

Directions to Friday’s game at Nelson Wolff Stadium

1. Take 281 South towards downtown San Antonio

2. Take the I-35 South Exit towards Laredo

3. Take the US-90 Exit towards Del Rio

4. Take the Callaghan Road Exit and turn right onto Callaghan

Google Maps has the travel time at just over 30 minutes to Wolff from Johnson High School with no traffic. With the game happening on a Friday afternoon we are suggesting at least 45 minutes of travel time.

Directions to Saturday’s doubleheader at Whataburger Field

1. Take 281 South through San Antonio.

2. 281 South becomes 87 South. You will travel 143 miles on 87 South towards Corpus Christi.

3. Once in Corpus take exit 1D the Port Ave Exit.

4. Turn left on Port Ave and go under the freeway.

5. Stay on Port Ave and the Field will be on your left.

Google Maps has the travel time at just under 3 hours to Whataburger from Johnson High School with no traffic. Game time is 2pm Saturday.
